Winter Festival of Lights

November 21, 2015 - January 31, 2016 @ Queen Victoria Park

The Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights is a 5 kilometer light display with beautiful light features throughout some have been their for years and some are new creations. You can choose to drive throughout the 5 Kilometers or go the route my family takes and grab some hot chocolates and walk through Queen Victoria Park taking the time to gawk and enjoy the displays there.Visitors can expect to see many of the iconic displays that have become favourites for attendees including the shimmering Zimmerman Fountain, the world's largest illuminated Canadian-American flag and the new three dimensional Canadian Wildlife displays which were unveiled in Dufferin Islands last season. Their is a new 600K program with for the lights this year this will allow new amazing displays and laser light shows. There is no admission fee to view the illuminations but donations are gratefully accepted by Festival Ambassadors at the exit of Dufferin Islands (suggested contribution ($5 - $10 per car; $1 per coach bus passenger), with proceeds used to enhance the lights and displays. The 33rd season of the Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights will kick off on Saturday November 21st 2015 with Opening Ceremonies in Queen Victoria Park. Always an exciting event, Opening Ceremonies is an evening of family friendly entertainment! There is also the Niagara Falls fireworks displays that accompany the lights beautifully they can be seen at the following times:

Free Family Christmas Shopping Event

Free Family Christmas shopping event.  (Food drive)
Saturday November 28th, 2015: 2:00-5:00pm – Free event
By Niagara Region Helping Green ELFS
Allanburg Community Center, 1560 Falls Street, Allanburg, ON L0S 1A0

While this event is not completely free it is as close as you can get for this type of value. I firmly believe in shopping early, on sale items, and often but with that being said, as a stay at home mom I am all too familiar with working on a budget. Trying to squeeze in all the people on your Christmas list on top of that can be quite the chore. This event allows you and your children to trade canned foods for Christmas gifts. This is an amazing opportunity to give back to the community and allow your children to "shop" for their loved ones as well. There is also a variety of fun things to do listed above to ensure this is a fun event for all. For this event you pre-register how many people will be "shopping" and at what time slot here http://helpinggreenelfs.webs.com/. Also this is the perfect time to declutter the items in your home you find your family is no longer using in order to make room for the holiday haul to come you can donate those items to Lisa here greenfamworld@gmail.com or 905-735-2680 .
