This is the perfect base for any type of add on cookies. If you can dream it you can bake it, from the classic chocolate chip, to candy corn! Yes we did in fact make candy corn cookies. This easy recipe will only take a few minutes to prepare then its up to you how you want to personalize them. I have made them at least 20 different ways and I'll give you an example of some after the recipe. I am also going to give you the 5 dozen and 10 dozen cookie recipes so you don't have to bother doing cookie math to figure it out. I highly recommend this recipe as one for baking with the kids, if you divide the recipe after its mixed up and let each child pick their own add-ins it can be a ton of fun.
Recipe Yields: 5 Dozen cookies
Prep. Time: 10 minutes
Bake Time: 8-10 minutes per batch
Ingredients:
1 Cup Butter
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup White Sugar
2 Eggs
1 Tsp. Vanilla
2 1/4 Cup Flour
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
1 Tsp. Salt
Recipe Yields: 10-11 Dozen cookies
Prep. Time: 10 minutes
Bake Time: 8-10 minutes per batch
Ingredients:
1 Cup Shortening
1 Cup Butter
2 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Cup White Sugar
4 Eggs
2 Tsp. Vanilla
4 1/2 Cup Flour
2 Tsp. Baking Soda
2 Tsp. Salt
Preheat oven to 350*. In a large mixing bowl cream together Butter and sugars. Beat in eggs one at a time and add vanilla. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and stir well. Next mix in the chocolate chips nuts or whatever else you can dream up. Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart on a baking sheet. *Note* If you prefer you can refrigerate for 5 minutes and roll into balls, then press down with a fork to make even cookies every time. Bake for 8 minutes for soft cookies or 10-11 minutes for solid cookies. Cool on a wire rack and enjoy!
